Owyhee County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center

The Owyhee County Dispatch Center is a state of the art facility. It is operated 24/7/365. It is the main dispatch center for all emergency responders in Owyhee County through the Enhanced 911 system.

It takes a special person to be a dispatcher. Their importance is often overlooked in the emergency response field. Dispatchers are also the lifeline for law enforcement officers. They are the first person someone talks to when an emergency exists. Patience and the ability to gather information in a tense and urgent time while dispatching emergency services is a gift. It is multi-tasking to the extreme.

Owyhee County operates the dispatch center with 5 full time dispatchers. The jailers are also trained to assist in an emergency. The female dispatchers are also trained to assist with female inmates when necessary. All of the dispatchers must test and certify in Medical Response Dispatching, CPR and AED, Idaho Law Enforcement Telecommunications System, National Crime Information Center, and attend POST Dispatch Academy.

Owyhee County is priviledged to have such dedicated and caring employees.
